Validate AI invoice extraction before writing accounting data

Invoice extraction produces candidate accounting fields. Before those fields become a ledger entry, validate both the document's identity and the relationships among its numbers.

Distinguish extraction from reconciliation

An extractor can read invoice number, vendor, subtotal, tax, total, and currency. Reconciliation checks whether the vendor matches an existing account, whether the invoice already exists, and whether the amounts agree. An extraction can be well-formed but wrong: a purchase order number may be mistaken for an invoice number, or a balance due may be mistaken for the invoice total.

What to verify

Use invoices with multiple pages, credit notes, and more than one currency in your fixture. Avoid allowing a model to invent missing tax or vendor details.
